Modern South America Ensemble
The „Modern South America Ensemble“, „MSAE“ in short, is a professional instrumental ensemble made up of highliy qualified musicians. It performs well known and less well known oeuvres of Latin American composers. The „MSAE“ enables insights into charming, folkloristic, but also challenging contemporary music.
Under the conductorship of Felipe Cattapan, the „MSAE“ would like to make classical South American (particularly Brazilian) music more familiar in Switzerland and Europe.
The Brazilian conductor Felipe Cattapan, who lives in Switzerland, would like to continue his successful work with his prior projects „Brazilian Chamber Music“ (2011), „Ernst Widmer“ (2010) and „Heitor Villa-Lobos“ (2009) with his youngest project, the „MSAE“, in co-operation with the Brazilian consulate in Zurich and the Brazilian embassy in Berne.
The ensemble successfully premiered in Berne and Geneva in December 2012, supported by the according Brazilian consulate and embassy, alongside the Avina foundation. The performances included compositions of Villa-Lobos, Guarnieri, Mignone and the Swiss premiere of „Noneto“ by Ronaldo Miranda.
The „MSAE“ understands itself as connector between the modern South American and the European musical traditions and it particularly dedicates itself to premieres for Switzerland and Europe.
The „MSAE“ is open for future co-operations and partnerships.
